Tom Rooney
Director of Rugby
Forwards Coach

Tom is nothing short of a rugby legend in Columbus. Tom was originally a wrestler at OSU. He started playing rugby, in 1978, when it occurred to him that he didn't have to make weight and the rugby team only practiced twice a week. Tom then played for the Scioto Valley RFC from 1982, and in 1986 was elected captain. An injury forced him to quit playing and redirect his talents to coaching in 1992. Tom has coached at Ohio State ever since. He also coached the Midwest Select side for 5 years. His hard-nose, technical style of play in the forwards has helped the OSURFC become what it is today.

Wes Campbell
Backs Coach

Wes began playing in 1997 at Fordham University in the Bronx. He was the first player to receive a rugby scholarship (the Michael Breslin Scholarship) at Fordham. After college, Wes played briefly with the Manhattan Rugby Club before injuries ended career. He moved to Columbus from New York City in 2002 to pursue a career in employee benefits and investment management. His love for the game led him to join the OSU staff last fall. Wes plays an integral role working with OSU's young backline players.

Aaron Weir
Forwards Coach

Aaron started his rugby career at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio where he started 4 years at Lock.  He moved to Columbus to pursue his law degree in 2002 and currently practices with a downtown law firm. His love for the game and desire to coach at the college level led him to join the OSU staff in the Fall of 2010 as a forwards coach.
